Ranking Criteria
Platform rankings on this site are determined by five independently assessed criteria:
- Total effective cost (30%): headline trading fee plus spread, calculated on a $500 reference transaction.
- NGN settlement speed (25%): median time from sell confirmation to naira arriving in a Nigerian bank account.
- Regulatory status (20%): SEC Nigeria VASP license status or equivalent verified regulatory standing.
- User safety (15%): escrow availability, payment method restrictions, dispute resolution capability.
- Customer support (10%): response time, support channel availability, documented escalation path.
Independence Statement
Rankings are produced independently. No platform, exchange, or third party pays for review position, review content, or ranking placement. Where affiliate relationships exist, they are disclosed and have no influence on editorial rankings or review scores.
Data Sources
Platform fee and speed data is sourced from each platform's published fee schedule and verified through test transactions where possible. Regulatory status is verified against SEC Nigeria public records and official announcements. Rate data is fetched in real time from public market data APIs. All statistics include an explicit source and date.
Update Policy
- Platform fee data: reviewed when a platform announces a fee change.
- Regulatory content: reviewed every three months and immediately following SEC Nigeria or CBN announcements.
- Safety guidance: reviewed every six months.
- Live rate data: fetched automatically every 60 seconds via public API.
